As an Activities Coordinator at Walden Care, your role is pivotal in enabling and supporting residents to continue enjoying the activities and lifestyle choices that bring them joy. This involves getting to know each resident individually, understanding their life history, and actively engaging with them, their families, and friends. You will be involved in plotting life history books, sharing memories, and fostering a sense of community within the care setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Activities Leader to maintain a stimulating program of leisure pursuits and social events for both large and small groups, as well as on an individual basis.
- Produce a weekly social events program and ensure its effective advertising within the home.
- Establish and regularly review individualised social care plans for each resident within three weeks of admission.
- Assess residents to identify their social and recreational preferences based on likes, dislikes, abilities, and needs.
- Organise social and recreational events within and outside the home, promoting a relaxed and social environment during mealtimes.
- Liaise with relatives and other staff members when creating and reviewing social care plans.
- Involve residents in local community events and encourage community groups’ participation in the life of the home.
- Address the spiritual needs of residents, allowing them to worship according to their beliefs.
- Maintain an inventory of social event and hobby equipment, providing inspiration and ideas to care staff for group and one-to-one social events.
- Uphold infection control standards within the home and assist residents in maintaining their own infection control needs.
- Attend mandatory training as required by the Company and participate in additional training courses to enhance personal and professional knowledge.
- Keep social media updated in accordance with policy.
- Encourage all staff to engage with activities.
